These
are
small
watercolour ship portraits executed on Archers 300g
coldpress watercolour paper. I use a quarter sheet Imperial which
measures about (370 x 280)mm and once cropped the size is reduced
further as suits the image. I have a large collection of images of British ships prior to 1970 and, with the net, it is not hard to locate images good enough for detail. Provided I have a satisfactory image I can produce these portraits quickly and economically. If you are interested in commissioning a ship portrait all I need to know is the name of the vessel and the situation in which you want it represented. This includes roughly the angle - ( beam on, four points (45º) on the bow etc.), the weather, sea state and the background. Within limits I can represent ports that I know, or you can supply an image from which I can work. Once I have the information I will email you a rough sketch and if you are happy with that I will complete the watercolour and send you a good image. |
| Provided you are happy with the image I will post the painting to you | |

Payment
can
be
worked out once I am in contact with you and I do not usually
require settlement until you have received the painting. This is
necessary as there is always the chance that a painting will be damaged
in the post. I charge $325NZ for these portraits. (postage not included) Rather than list charges for different countries you can check the cost in your currency by accessing the web site below: Exchange rates XE.com Note. The images I have here are examples of these portraits. They all happen to be of ships of the post-WWII era. I am not confined to this period and can handle anything from the ancient Egyptians to the latest vessels. |
