The Dominion Monarch was the largest of all the passenger-cargo liners.  Apart from the years of WWII when she was requisitioned by the British government, she spent her life on the Britain, Australia and New Zealand run, carrying up 525 passengers and 16,400 of cargo.  She was built for Shaw Saville and launched on 27 July 1938 and measured 27,155 gross. She was taken out of service in 1962 and spent a brief time as an hotel ship at the Seattle World Fair where, towards the end of her stay, her name was changed to Dominion Monarch Maru.  In November of that year she was sailed to Japan and broken up.
